LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Winning five straight national titles and 82 consecutive matches have put the Georgia Gwinnett College men’s tennis program firmly atop the 2019 NAIA Top 25 preseason poll.
The Grizzlies received all 14 first-place votes from a nationwide panel of coaches to top the poll for the 38th straight time since the postseason poll following GGC’s first national title in 2014.
The 2018 team had an undefeated 27-0 season, stretching the nation’s longest active winning in collegiate team sports to 82 straight victories. The program has a 124-3 all-time record across six seasons.
Georgia Gwinnett College returns 2018 second NAIA All-American team selection Ayed Zatar, and honorable mention All-America team members Valentino Caratini, Rafael Coutinho and Federico Herrera Duran.
The Grizzlies open the 2019 season with a home match against NCAA Division II Lander University (S.C.) on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 2:30 p.m. at the GGC Tennis Facility.
