GGC has sent an email out to the students about tomorrows closure. Please read the information below:
Gwinnett County is currently under a Winter Storm Watch, and there is a potential for portions of Gwinnett County to see snow accumulation of up to 1” with Black Ice especially Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Governor Kemp announced during a press conference earlier today that all state offices in the watch area will be closed on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. The Gwinnett County Emergency Operations Center is currently monitoring the forecast and will provide updates.
Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for Gwinnett County and most of North Georgia.
Primary Threats and Impacts
Impacts to Gwinnett County include rain and minor accumulations of snow up to 1” and Black Ice with temperatures not expected to reach above freezing until Wednesday afternoon.
We should expect to see rain beginning mid-day Tuesday, and then falling temperatures overnight into Wednesday morning. The cold air is expected to reach above freezing Wednesday afternoon but then drop again Wednesday night.
All areas of the college are reviewing emergency operations plans to ensure that all necessary resources are in place to keep the campus community safe. The plans are being activated in anticipation of the storm.
Drivers are encouraged to stay off the roadways during the peak of the winter storm.
The college will be providing updates to the campus until the threat of the winter storm has passed.
